Dr. Mariano Spiezia, MD, MCPP, LFHom

Early Medical Career & Transition to Holistic Practice

Born in the heart of the Mediterranean and shaped by Neapolitan culture and humanistic medicine, Dr. Mariano Spiezia is a pioneer in integrated health. In the 1980s his journey began in the emergency wards  in Italy, where he trained and worked as a conventional physician. Driven by a deeper curiosity about the roots of illness, he soon expanded his path beyond conventional medicine, travelling from India to the Americas, to seek the common roots of human understanding.  

In later years he incorporated homeopathy and clinical phytotherapy into his practice. He founded one of southern Italy’s first detox centres and began handcrafting herbal remedies, laying the foundation for a lifelong mission to unite sound science with the healing power of nature.

His interest in skincare emerged from a belief that the skin is both a mirror of inner health, beauty and a channel for wellbeing. This inspired him to create formulations that nourish and nurture from within, working in tune with the body.

Pioneering Organic Beauty & Industry Recognition

After relocating to Cornwall in 1998 with his wife Loredana and their three children, Dr. Spiezia founded Spiezia Organic Care—the UK’s first fully certified organic skincare line. His commitment to purity, ethics, and holistic formulation helped shape the UK’s first organic standards for Health & Beauty products.

His ingenuity evolved years later into Inlight Beauty, where Dr. Spiezia served as formulator and Scientific Director for 17 years, redefining skincare as a soulful, high vibrational, therapeutic ritual. His leadership, competence and ethos has earned multiple awards for his formulations, including a nomination for Positive Luxury’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2020.

A Family Journey in Holistic Innovation

For many years, Dr. Spiezia’s work was a family affair. Alongside his wife Loredana, their three children contributed vital expertise – from strategy to marketing and handcrafted production methods that maintain the integrity of each individual component without diluting nature's richness. After almost two decades, the family stepped back from the company and Inlight Beauty's commitments, with Dr. Spiezia wanting to pursue a more personal, essence-driven path—allowing him, as a freelancer, to connect and collaborate with a wider community, co-creating meaningful projects and sharing his insight and ingenuity in ways that can help inspire and support others. 

Philosophy, Botanical Wander, Quantum Mechanics, and Alchemy

Dr. Spiezia brings a deeply reflective and interdisciplinary perspective to healing. He views wellbeing as a state of dynamic balance across body, mind, and spirit—where scientific precision meets energetic and emotional alignment.

This perspective informs his ongoing contributions to yoga anatomy seminars, training programmes and masters alike, where he shares anatomical and energetic insights grounded in physics, biology, frequencies and  holistic science.

Current Work & Global Presence

Now based between the wild landscapes of Cornwall and his native southern Italy, Dr. Spiezia continues to practice as a holistic physician, medical herbalist, and formulator. His work spans holistic medicine, bespoke herbal treatments, skincare and life coaching while also thoroughly researching new natural ingredients and their health benefits.

He offers one-on-one consultations in person and online, and collaborates with individuals and select brands who share his values of integrity, lifestyle, and purpose. He remains active in the wellness and integrated medicine communities — writing for health publications, mentoring practitioners, leading workshops and retreats and expressing his ingenuity as formulator.

His work today reflects a blend of intellectual artistry and ethical innovation—quiet yet profound, always rooted in service and the transformative power of nature.
